Girl in the Wild

Our pal Kim is a Boss Babe. Like actually, a total babe. And a total boss. She also happens to be 100% committed to making sure other gals feel like the bosses they are, too. Maybe this is why we’re pals.

Kim started Girl in the Wild to help girls realize their worth and deepen their self-confidence. Through a combination of selling sustainably made tees and tights to her fan girl followers (hint: people like you and me), and enlisting corporate sponsors, she is busy building out a program to offer FREE weeklong camps to girls in the wild, “to get real, crush goals, shed insecurities, share experiences, learn self-love and cannonball in an alpine lake.” We’re behind this, big time.

Girl in the Wild collaborated with local, sustainable clothing manufacturers to produce their apparel. We’re loving our Adventure Leggings from BeWildHer and tees from Novel Supply Co.

Kim’s inspiration for Girl in the Wild came from, well, Kim. Her personal journey through body image, self worth, and growing love of the outdoors evolved over a couple of decades.

“She was 23 when she decided to be brave. She walked tall out of a severely toxic relationship and straight into the mountains—the Tombstone Mountains in the Yukon, as a matter of fact. She did it because she wanted to. Because it felt right. Because it was the only thing that made sense.

A strong adventurer was born that day. Or maybe she was just set free.”

We’re featuring Kim for a few reasons. We believe in babes supporting babes so much that Ali bought a crewneck that says so. In all seriousness, we are stoked that Kim is so devoted to supporting other girls as they journey into a better sense of self and identifying what they might offer the world. We also believe that people do their best work when they are passionate about their work, and Kim is bringing her longtime dream to life! She’s gathering a crew around her and putting her heart and soul into something she knows so deeply that she just needs to do. We’re behind this, big time.

We hope you’ll check out Girl in the Wild. Sure, grab a rad tee if you feel so inclined, but we hope you’ll think of a girl you know who would benefit from being told how awesome she is, and tell her just that. Better yet, invite her on an adventure that leaves you both revelling in the fresh air, the mountain views, and that empowered feeling you get from taking a moment to pause your regular programming in favour of an excursion in nature!
