Let's get down to business

It’s been three years since our last blog entry. Rest assured, we’ve kept busy navigating the ever winding road(s) of life’s journey. Domestic moves, international moves, new jobs, new communities, new friends, new rhythms, new challenges, new strategies, new breakthroughs. Mountains climbed, beaches combed.

While there’s far too much to recap in one page, our main update is to share: we’re back. Truthfully, we’ve been here all along, learning and growing, quietly dreaming and scheming, envisioning ways to bring our Hearth dream to its tangible form. We’ve each pursued a variety of personal and professional endeavours that have eventually enabled us to reach our current big step: reunited, and more committed than ever to move our dream forward, together. We’ve always felt we would one day be ready, but could not definitively pinpoint when or where that might be. We are ready here; we are ready now.

We have both returned to our little home island, where we are fortunate to be working, playing, and charting our next steps on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the unceded homelands of the Squamish (sko-ho-mish) and Tsleil-Waututh (sail-wha-tooth) Nations. Surrounded by our own familial relations, and back amongst the familiar rock, trees, ocean, and wildlife, we have been reconnecting with the people and places we love in this corner of the world. We continue to hold special space in our hearts for our other island soul home down in the Southern Hemisphere. We look forward to bringing the best parts of our experiences there into this chapter.

We are preparing for our next island move. There’s a village nestled among the hills near the eastern shoreline of Vancouver Island, in a territory traditionally known as “the land of plenty” to the K'ómoks First Nation. It is here that we see possibility, opportunity, and a space to put down some roots in preparation for welcoming local and visiting members of our community. It is here we will turn a fresh page to write our now 7 years-marinated idea into reality, so we may share it more fully with each of you. We’re back, and we’re moving forward.
